September feels a bit like New Year to us

There’s something about September that has always seemed a little bit like New Year at Dark Cherry Creative.
Not in the traditional sense, obviously. There are no fireworks, nobody is counting down to midnight, and you probably won’t find many people making promises about going to the gym every morning. However, there is definitely a sense that things are starting again.
The summer holidays are coming to an end; people are getting back into their usual routines, diaries start filling up and conversations that have been quietly parked for a few weeks suddenly start moving again.
And, perhaps more importantly, there’s a growing awareness that there are only a few months left of the year.
July and August can be funny months when it comes to getting projects over the line. Much like November and December, things can slow down quite considerably, not because anyone has lost interest, but because the person who needs to make the decision is on holiday, someone else is waiting for an answer, a meeting has been pushed back another week, or everyone is simply trying to keep things ticking over while half the office is away.
The good thing is that September gives everyone a chance to pick things back up. And this is where we think it’s worth looking at those projects that have been sitting around for a while.
The website that you were going to get sorted earlier in the year. The rebrand that was almost ready to go before something more urgent came along. The marketing project with a couple of really good ideas behind it, but that never quite got the time it deserved. The things that were discussed, considered, maybe even budgeted for, and then quietly moved down the list.
September is a great time to revisit them because there’s still enough of the year left to do something properly, without the slightly frantic feeling that can arrive when you realise it’s the middle of December. You’re trying to squeeze six months of ideas and projects into three weeks.
It’s also a good opportunity to think about what you want to take into 2027. Get something moving now, and you could be starting the new year with a finished project rather than another item on the list of things you really must get around to doing.
And if you need a hand getting it moving again, you know where we are.
The kettle will be on, there could even be biscuits too.
